Akini Jing | Villain
Virtual Production / 3D Environment Design / Stage Design
For Akini Jing’s concept album Villain, I served as the lead visual artist, designing immersive 3D worlds that shaped the album’s music video and stage identity. Inspired by classic Hong Kong cinema and wuxia aesthetics, the project employed high-end virtual production to integrate stylized environments with live performance.

The work demonstrated my ability to collaborate within a large-scale, multidisciplinary production—bridging artists, directors, and technical teams to create a cohesive visual universe. Villain received widespread acclaim, winning at the 3rd Wave Music Awards and earning a nomination at the 36th Golden Melody Awards (Taiwan).

I also extended the Villain universe into a live setting, creating real-time VJ visuals for Akini’s performance at HTIC Festivals.

Scene design
The scene design for Villain drew from classic Hong Kong wuxia cinema, with a series of large-scale indoor and outdoor environments tailored for virtual production. Each setting supported the album’s narrative arc and emotional tone.

A sprawling martial arts city was central to the visual story, built for dynamic camera movement through rooftops and layered alleys. In contrast, more meditative scenes drew on traditional Chinese gardens and classical architecture to evoke quiet elegance and restraint.

Virtual Production Design
Each environment was optimized in Unreal Engine for real-time virtual production—featuring dynamic lighting, level streaming, and seamless on-set switching. This required deep engine knowledge and integration with production workflows.

The scenes were later restructured for Akini Jing’s live VJ set, where they responded in real time to music. The project highlights my ability to merge cinematic worldbuilding with real-time performance design.
